Main Points of EB 34 Report
Thirty-fourth meeting of Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (EB34) was held in Bonn, Germany on 12-14 September 2007. The main points of the meeting report were summarized as follow:
1.Methodology
The Board agreed to approve the consolidated methodology ACM0013 Consolidated methodology for new grid connected fossil fuel fired power plants using a less GHG intensive technology, SSC I.E. Switch from Non-Renewable Biomass for Thermal Applications by the User and SSC II.G. Energy Efficiency Measures in Thermal Applications of Non-Renewable Biomass.
2.General guidance
An annex was updated to the revised guidelines for completing the simplified project design document, in which the use of standard variables drawn from approved methodologies and IPCC guidelines were unified.
3.Matters relating to the issuance of CERs and the CDM registry
785 CDM project activities have been registered and 80,216,183 CERs have been issued by 14 September 2007.
In accordance with the provisions of paragraphs 17 and 18 (c) of the procedures, EB rejected to register 10 project activities, including 8 demand side electricity management projects and 2 bio energy projects, requested review by EB33 for the reasons of failure to demonstrate the validity of benchmark and the correct application of monitoring requirements.
